I tried the closed beta first, but I’m excited to join the open beta since the game turns out to be surprisingly enjoyable. The combat system blends elements from Soul Calibur and M&B: Warband, making it more intricate than expected for a game of its price. Yet, the available content feels limited for the $60 cost, and the HUD showing enemy attacks seems underwhelming. I’d prefer a system without visual cues—similar to M&B Warband or Chivalry—and one that challenges you to interpret animations instead of relying on arrows indicating attack paths.
I was quite taken aback. After turning on the MSI afterburner, my CPU usage usually stays around 85%, not maxed out. I think the HUD could use some improvements—maybe a hardcore mode would help. Overall, the game is enjoyable, but I’d spend about 30 euros for it.
It's really impressive to see 85% usage on a core 2 duo for such a game. I wondered if others would prefer a more intense experience without these cues, and maybe Ubisoft will eventually add a mode for them. Of course, it depends. Either way, the game comes with a steep learning curve and high skill requirements, which was unexpected for me. I was hoping for a QTE-heavy Chivalry clone ^^
