Hello! I've been trying FreeNAS for a few months now, but the complicated interface didn't suit my needs as a home NAS user. I'm switching to OMV, which I like, though their slow updates and lack of support for certain features are drawbacks. Looking for another OS recommendation?

What are your goals for hardware? For my setup (network backups, file storage, FTP server, cloud-accessible files, Plex streaming, etc.) I’m running Windows 10 Pro. Advantages: straightforward, user-friendly, familiar with Windows and compatible apps function well. Disadvantages: could lack advanced file systems or settings, Windows demands more hardware resources, etc.

I might need to set up RAID configuration (still unsure) since Windows doesn’t support it. Also, the Nextcloud server isn’t running on Windows—I have two machines: one with an i7 3770K and the other with an Intel G3258. I haven’t decided yet, but mostly it will be for media sharing and Nextcloud.

I rely on simple tools such as Debian and follow commands step-by-step from the wiki. I prefer copying and pasting over using graphical interfaces.

What version of OMV are you running? if you are running 3x then ya, half the plugins won't work. I'm running 2.1 and have an up to date emby server and owncloud running. There is also a Owncloud workaround to get Nextcloud working. http://forum.openmediavault.org/index.ph...-approach/
