Home Cinema Setup (Surround Sound Problems)
Home Cinema Setup (Surround Sound Problems)
Hello there! I hope you're finding your way into the right community. I’m new to home cinema setup and have some challenges with surround sound. Here’s a quick overview of what I have so far:
- TV model: TCL 65C845
- Supported: Dolby Vision - Atmos
- Surround system: Basic 5.1 setup
- Connection: HDMI ARC to TV, Plex client on Android TV
- Playback: Works with HDR10, but audio feels flat
- Issues: Voice sounds the same across all speakers; sound quality not immersive
I’ve tried a few things:
- Checked HDMI cable and connections
- Looked into using a NVIDIA Shield with Plex
- Explored AV receivers
- Read about config tweaks online
It seems like the audio might be misconfigured or the signal path isn’t optimized. Many users suggest using a dedicated audio interface or a better HDMI cable for better sound. If you’re open to it, I’d recommend testing with a separate audio source (like a dedicated soundbar) and adjusting your Plex settings. Let me know what you try!
You connect it to the 5.1 system by following the wiring instructions provided.
The LHB655 box links straight to the TV using ARC, while the speakers are plugged into the box through its speaker terminal. There isn’t a separate AVR; I added a photo. The optical cable isn’t attached to the TV—only the HDMI is connected.
The optical isn't functioning properly, possibly due to a damaged cable.
