Not long ago I sold my previous rig to upgrade and it performed well until recently. I noticed an unusual issue in Bangkok map during daytime—especially on the stairs—where frame rates dropped sharply to around 45fps with intense lag spikes. This only happened at that specific location. Others might also experience similar problems? My rig has a 7900x3d and 4080 super specs. I observed that GPU power usage spikes significantly during those lag spikes. Normally, I get about 180 to 230 watts with all settings maxed and DLSS enabled, but at that spot it jumps to nearly 380 watts for a brief moment, staying well above the usual range unless something is off. I use a native 12VHP cable, the game runs on NVMe PCIe3, and I just reinstalled the latest version. I’m currently on Windows 10 and core parking seems to be functioning properly.
It seems like a single map in one location might indicate a game issue rather than a PC problem. I wonder if checking the Steam community for reports could help. Have you looked into forums or shared similar experiences?
I believe there might be something happening behind the scenes at this spot, especially if it consistently occurs there—it’s likely just the system loading a map into VRAM. Try linking your GPU directly to the motherboard; if the issue continues, it could be a game-related problem.
I still think it might be leaking into CCD1. The 7900x3D model isn't really built for gaming unless you disable CCD1 or adjust Processor Affinity in Task Manager. Windows 10 with R9 7000x3D seems problematic in most cases, possibly because it requires more than standard settings to function. I haven't tried Windows 10 with my 7950x3D, so I can't confirm. The native 12VHPWR connection is likely the least ideal choice among these options. Issues with the sense pins can lead to fan speed changes and black screen problems that aren't visible with adapted 12VHPWR. The internally adapted cables perform best in my tests, followed by the included 8-pin to 12VHPWR adapter.
I've addressed the issue with mirror reflections, improving the quality from high to medium. The bug appears to be related to stuttering after the ray tracing update. It seems the developer hasn't resolved this problem yet. For now, the game correctly utilizes 3D VCache cores and CCD for performance. It might have been a background task spillover that's hard to pinpoint.
