Setting it to 120Hz still presents the same problem. The issue seems linked to the cables rather than the device specifications. HDMI 2.1 functions similarly to USB 3.2, but in reality, most devices meet the lower standards of USB 3.0. These typically support only 5Gbps, which isn't enough for 4K at 144Hz. You might want to check the cable's bandwidth rating—common values are 28Gbps, 48Gbps, or 80Gbps.
I’m not familiar with that model, but on certain other brands, a 144Hz refresh rate is actually a 120Hz display. You’ll need to access the monitor’s OSD menu and enable 144Hz for it to appear. If not, you’re limited to the 120Hz maximum. Also, do you have a driver installed? High-end monitors often remain in default settings until you install the proper drivers. Good luck!
I believe the best approach is to try the test on another machine. If the problem continues, request a return merchandise authorization under warranty. This isn't typical. P.S., a few TVs include a Windows driver—very uncommon, though I've encountered one before.
what software are you using? also what is the length of the hdmi cable. your issue seems connected to the cable. hdmi 2.1 up to 2 meters can handle 4k at 10bit, but reducing bit depth or resolution can bring it down to 144. once you exceed 2 meters, quality drops significantly. beyond 3 meters you’ll need active or optical connections. 2.1 isn’t just a longer version of 2.0—it’s much more sensitive to signal loss. if you go over 2 meters, it’s best to switch to something active or optical right away.
I'm testing at 4K as indicated by the TV specs. (4K TV) All cables are 6 feet long and from Stouchi brand. (Link provided) I've already lowered the resolution to 1440P, but flickering and blackouts persist. I've attached a video demonstrating the issue.
