Higher Graphics vs Higher FPS?
Higher Graphics vs Higher FPS?
We discussed something similar before. I’m making sure I’m hitting at least 60 and maintaining 1080p, AA, and textures.
I enjoy running Ultra at 60 frames per second, of course if the game runs smoothly on weaker systems I’ll simplify the settings, but I prefer a smoother 30 frames per second over a lower 60 fps.
It's all about finding the right balance. Unless you're competing or just enjoying it a lot, I still appreciate the original StarCraft. Your question is a bit unclear—are you asking about frame rates like 70 or 80 fps, or the range from slow to smooth gameplay?
It varies by game genre. Sometimes ultra settings and around 35-40 FPS work well for certain titles, though I tend to favor higher frames. For instance, running Shadow of Mordor at medium textures delivers great visuals while maintaining about 60 FPS (occasionally dropping to 50). The graphics are satisfying enough so I don’t feel the need to go higher. In shooters and FPS games, I prefer a solid frame rate above 60, even if it means sacrificing some quality. Lowering these games can sometimes reveal more details and make enemies easier to see. Strategy and slower-paced titles, however, are perfectly enjoyable at ultra and around 30 FPS. Ultimately, it depends on personal preference and what feels best for each player. My roommate played Assassins Creed Black Flag at 15-20 FPS and finished the game—proof of strong willpower!
A bit unusual question. Probably, those testing on a 60Hz screen use top-tier graphics setups running at 60Hz, while others likely stick to similar settings.
I prioritize frame rate above everything else. Even without competition, the smoothness appears superior to higher resolution details.
