Hello! I recently moved my CPU from a 9600K to a 3900X, trying to overcome some performance bottlenecks. The challenges started when streaming, and the tasks on this machine range from video playback to advanced editing in 4K. Initially, I had no prior experience with overclocking or adjusting BIOS settings. I’m noticing elevated idle temperatures and voltages, which seem related. My readings show idle temps between 50–65°C, averaging around 53°C. During Cinebench tests, temperatures peak up to 75°C, which isn’t alarming. I’ve checked various monitoring tools—Ryzen Master, CPU-Z, HWinfo—and they all report a steady voltage of 1.420. Before diving deeper, here are my system details:

I only changed one BIOS setting based on that advice, as the motherboard and options differ from Jay’s setup. After resetting everything, the stutter disappeared.
I’m aware that running more cores might push idle temps higher, but I’m concerned about staying around 53°C instead of the lower readings on my older machine. The voltage levels and idle temperatures seem typical for Ryzen processors. It usually runs slightly higher idle voltages to accommodate brief high-frequency operations. The only action you might consider is updating the BIOS if you have concerns. Overall, nothing unusual appears to be happening. Unless you mean voltage discrepancies, adjusting a fixed load voltage between 1.35 and 1.4 volts can gradually affect performance over time. Currently, the maximum safe static voltage setting is 1.325V—distinct from the standard voltage and boost characteristics that may tolerate higher values under low-current conditions.
And by the way, those temperatures are far from extreme—running at over 80°C for more than five years isn’t a problem and won’t cause any issues.
