High Temps with FX 6300 OC
High Temps with FX 6300 OC
I managed to achieve a stable overclock at 4.3 ghz with 3.24 voltage using a simple multiplier method. After turning the turbo off and leaving HPC on, the Prime95 stress test ran for more than an hour without issues. The main worry is temperature readings. On stress testing, my CPU core temps averaged around 61-62°C, dropping below 35°C during idle—about 50°C while gaming, but even lower in some games. It seems the stress test pushes temperatures higher than my usual daily usage. My motherboard temps were also checked: Tmpin0 averaged 48, 1 averaged 70°C, and 2 averaged 39°C during testing. During regular gaming, all MOBO temps stayed under 50°C. Should I consider lowering back to 3.2 GHz?
Which specific motherboard is this?
The temperatures are okay if it's a good quality board.
It seems like an HPC setup, probably a Gigabyte model.
Are you referring to a 1.324V voltage?
Certainly that stress test pushes it to its limits, only a handful of regular programs or games reach such high CPU usage. Everything stays within typical ranges, but we opted for AMD overdrive to monitor temperature and voltage along with other metrics. It includes stability tests and benchmarks designed for AMD systems.
My FX-8350 operates around 65°C during full load, which is not a cause for concern and is actually quite acceptable. If you have any worries, simply add a high-quality intake case fan positioned opposite or above the CPU cooler—though I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
