Hello everyone, I’d appreciate your feedback on the temperature ranges you’re experiencing with your new rig. I understand these CPUs tend to get warm, but I’m curious about what you’re seeing. Are there any issues I might be overlooking? While playing at 1440p with 165hz, I’ve observed elevated CPU temps—Red Dead Redemption 2 reaches about 85°C in towns, Battlefield 5 averages 85°C with peaks up to 89-90°C, and Locked Frames hit 144°F. Humankind shows peaks around 85°C during turns, and Escape from Tarkov is at 78°C on average with spikes to 81°C. My GPU temps are generally around 75°C. I’m located in Brazil, currently experiencing a heat wave, with room temps exceeding 25°C (30°C during the day). In winter, when indoor temps drop to 20°C or lower, CPU temperatures were noticeably lower by 2-3°C. I’m planning to install an air conditioning system soon.

Here’s my setup:
- MOBO: Asus Rog Strix X570-E Gaming (stock, PBO auto)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
- RAM: 4x 8GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 3600MHz DDR4 CL16 (configured for 3600MHz)
- GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080ti Gaming OC 12GB (stock)
- SSD #1: M.2 NVME Corsair MP600 2TB - 4950MB / 4250MB
- SSD #2: M.2 NVME XPG SX8100 1TB - 3500/3000 PSU
- PSU: Corsair HX1000 80 Plus Platinum
- Case: Corsair H115i RGB Platinum (280mm) with fans on silent mode and pump in balanced setup
- Fans: 6x Corsair ML120 RGB (intake: 3 on sides/front, 3 at base), 6x ML120 RGB (supplemental)

I’m focusing on keeping GPU temps low to avoid performance drops.

It's definitely too intense for just a match, yet the heat is noticeable wherever you are.

Configure the curve optimizer to undervolt because your system supports both the CPU and motherboard.

I'm using a fully custom water loop for my 5900X, but with a less-than-ideal water block. In RDR2 I see temperatures around 77°C when PBO is on. Since my room has air conditioning and is set to 68°F (about 20°C), it seems reasonable for me. I might try undervolting if needed, though I wouldn't feel comfortable with those temps even if they made sense.

I experienced similar readings around 77-78°C, while the room stayed at 20°C. This suggests a trend. I plan to test the undervolt setting next.

Do you have a tutorial for ASUS systems? It's your first PC with an AMD Ryzen, so the BIOS setup is quite different from what you're familiar with.

Navigate to Advanced, then AMD Overclocking, and select PBO.

The stock voltage curve is quite high, so you should lower it slightly—maybe around -0.05v under those conditions. These games run on light loads.

Attempted to lower voltage by 30 volts and appeared stable. Completed a 40-minute BF5 session with an average temperature of 84°C (RivaTurner, HWMonitor). Room temp was 35°C at the start, dropping to 30°C earlier. Will retest overnight. Progress seems noticeable.
