Hello! I'm facing an issue with my i7 9700 CPU. After purchasing an Arctic cooler, the temperatures remain high—reaching up to 85°C during stress tests and even higher while playing games like Gears 5 (up to 90°C and 125W). Is this typical for this CPU, or should I adjust BIOS settings? Also, I have a Z370 Aorus Gaming 5 motherboard.

It's not too bad at those temperatures—it shouldn't cause throttling. I prefer keeping CPUs below 85°C during heavy AVX tasks. Have you experimented with re-mounting the cooler or applying new thermal paste? A good option like MX-4 should work without breaking the bank. Also, switch to HWInfo for more accurate readings; HWMonitor often gives wrong temperatures on some setups.

I attempted to repaste using the cooler master and XM4, but it didn’t succeed. Your voltage reading is 1.30, which seems fine—just confirm if that’s within your system’s limits. Don’t worry about damaging your CPU or MB; just keep an eye on things.

1.3 volts under maximum load, correct? That's acceptable. You can lower the voltage gradually and perform a complete stress test at each level. Use offset mode if your board allows it instead of locking in a fixed voltage. Intel XTU tools work well for this without needing to enter UEFI/BIOS.

The 1.20V should be adequate after passing the stress test; otherwise, it might be too low.

Hi there! Just let the system run automatically as it is. You might want to turn on Intel Thermal Velocity Boost in BIOS—it really helps a lot.

However, the difference is minimal since I have two fans on the CPU cooler and three front coolers—two front and one back. My GPU never went above 70°C.
