You're noticing unusual temperature spikes when using your Ryzen 9 7950X. It's normal for idle temps to be around 45°C, but jumping to 70°C during tasks like downloading games suggests potential issues. Consider checking the thermal paste application and quality—ensuring it's evenly spread can help maintain optimal performance. Upgrading to a higher-grade paste might also improve stability.

It's quite normal given the specifications. The 7950X is a very powerful processor, and its Ryzen boost feature works extremely fast. There are several ways to manage temperatures—using optimization tools, applying liquid metal to the heatsink (with caution), or even replacing the CPU entirely. For this model at its standard configuration, those temperatures are generally within the expected range.

The curve optimizer is a tool used to adjust audio profiles, often found in software like Ryzen Master. It helps refine sound settings for better performance or quality.

It doesn’t appear there’s much to correct; everything seems to be functioning properly as expected. Are the observed temperatures impacting performance in any way? At this stage, these components are built to handle high thermal loads and maintain stable power output. Unless you’re tracking both temperature and clock speed, the temperature data alone offers limited insight.

Not accustomed to such heat levels, particularly with minimal CPU activity, and temperatures rise to 70°C during game downloads.

The curve optimizer is the AMD technique for reducing CPU voltage. It modifies the voltage/frequency chart so the processor stays cooler under medium/light workloads and can run higher clock speeds in heavy loads while maintaining lower temperatures. You can apply it via Ryzen Master or directly in the BIOS, though be cautious—stress testing is tough because you can run Prime95 Small FFTs all day without issues, but opening Chrome randomly may cause a blue screen. AMD includes an automatic curve optimizer in Ryzen Master to help prevent this, but if you notice unexpected crashes, consider disabling or turning off the feature.

You're observing aspects of Ryzen's design and recent updates to Zen4's boosting handling, as discussed by @RONOTHAN. Have you reviewed the launch day coverage of Zen4 before buying?

Consider whether to run on all cores or per-core. Adjust the graphics value (GFX CO) based on your needs.

Core seems more reliable, though it usually runs slower. I wouldn't rely on the GPU's visual performance since it shouldn't be running.
