High temperatures during GTA V 5950x playtime and the self radio are both common issues.
I encountered an unusual situation while playing GTA V. My CPU temperatures were unusually high during gameplay. I performed various troubleshooting steps—like resetting the BIOS, reinstalling it, adjusting RAM frequency, boosting fan speed, tweaking graphics settings, and even replacing the cooler. Despite these efforts, using the self radio in the game caused my CPU temps to rise sharply, often reaching 65°C or more when it activated. Could anyone else be experiencing a similar issue? Thanks.
75c is an ideal temperature, you should only begin to concern yourself if it goes above 90c. In practice, it should likely manage up to 105c without issues.
This behavior is typical for the 5000 series. Lightly threaded loads generate more heat because the cores can operate at higher voltages, which means more power per core and a greater concentration of load. The outcome is elevated hotspot temperatures in applications like games, as opposed to those spread across all cores.
I understand the suggested max temperature is 90°C, but it seems turning on the self-radio significantly increases CPU heat. I saw some Reddit discussions where people reported similar issues, possibly due to a game bug or using personal music files instead of official ones.
It matches what I saw in the Task Manager, with high load across around four threads.
it's not fixed, it's peak all core, theres a peak single core somewhere, last i saw it was 1.49v some settings won't even save, just the weirdness of amd, i'll probably just stick with this profile forever lol, good thing i wasn't gonna push it any further with just a drp4 anyway. This was all done in a rush the first day i put it together, wasn't even expecting 4.55, got 4.55 and i'm just happy with it. It's just pbo with a negative offset with the oc switching on with the dark hero, i followed what buildzoid did. 2/3 times the bios won't save so i'm probably not touching it anymore, i could flash the bios but...not feeling lucky. If i leave everything on auto, i think it's like 4.95/4.2? i know 3.8 happened for a bit after i installed windows stock was weird
