I conducted a stress test with my [email protected]@1.3v setup. The values I recorded were generally consistent, but with prime95 the numbers spiked significantly—over 107°C in some cases. According to hwinfo, the CPU consumed around 216 watts during this test, compared to 120 watts under "heavyload" and about 150 watts during Cinebench R20. The extreme temperatures only appeared with prime95. Since I'm using a be quiet AIO, I'm wondering if running prime95 for extended periods could damage the unit. Water boils at 100°C, so I'm concerned about overheating. Other observations: at stock settings, the CPU stays under 80 watts for prime95, which is puzzling given the higher clock speeds. Idle temperatures are around 60°C at stock settings, but drop to 40°C under OC (up to [email protected]). Anyone have insights on this?

Prime95 seems like an overly intense test for thermal performance. While it helps evaluate cooling system heat capacity, the CPU demand is quite extreme. I’d prefer using Realbench to observe actual temperatures instead.

Prime95 is a powerful tool. Consider testing another benchmark, perhaps Blender?

Discuss your temperature performance during typical operation. Ensure proper thermal paste application on the CPU and that the 3000 chips are positioned sideways, as inadequate paste spread or mounting pressure could lead to unusual temperature rises. Regarding your AIO concerns: water boils at 100°C, so an explosion isn't likely. The CPU reaching that temperature doesn’t imply the coolant is at 100°C or close to it, provided the pump and fans are functioning and the loop remains clear. Even if a component fails and liquid heats up, a significant pressure increase would likely result in a minor leak or spillage rather than a full rupture. The fluids used are not pure water but contain additives like propylene glycol, which raise the boiling point and enhance safety.
