High temperature performance of the Ryzen 5 3600
Hello everyone, I just installed my Ryzen 5 3600 with the built-in Wraith stealth cooler. I ran some benchmarks in GTA V and played a bit of Assassin's Creed Syndicate. I observed that the CPU temperature often spikes significantly. In the AC it stayed around 75°C, but during the GTA test it rose to a peak of 87 before dropping to about 78. I switched to a new thermal paste instead of the original Arctic MX-4 and followed all the installation steps carefully. My room temperature is about 25°C, and the case has good airflow with both intake and exhaust fans (120mm). I’m puzzled as to why it gets so hot. Maybe a better cooler would help? (It’s surprising since I’ve heard positive reviews about the stock AMD ones.) By the way, my idle temps were 40-45, but now they’re up to 55-60.
My perception of the situation is typical. To be certain, adjust the cooler settings and reapply thermal paste using hwinfo64 or Ryzen Master. Monitoring temperatures with these tools can help.
I have the same CPU, using a CoolerMaster Lite 120. In normal conditions it stays around 35-40-45°C, but in games it climbs to about 60-70°C. Don't worry, your Ryzen 5 3600's max temperature is 95°C, which is well below that range.
Hey team, MSI Afterburner did report incorrect temperatures. I also adjusted the fan settings in BIOS, which should prevent issues for now. In the future, I’ll definitely upgrade to a better cooler.
