This is a brand new build. I haven't even been able to download Windows or anything yet It goes from ~ 50°c and steadily climbs to 106°c until it automatically turns off. I touch the back plate of the motherboard where the CPU is and it's nowhere near hot enough to be that temp I've reapplied thermal paste 3 time, the last time spreading it evenly on the cpu, yet nothing works. I'm 90% sure I need to update the BIOS, but once it reaches 106°c, it automatically turns off, so I run the major risk of killing my motherboard if it takes too long and shuts off while downloading. WHAT DO I DO Sad(

Do you have a cooler? It seems like you're using an AIO that's not pumping properly.

No, none of the heat pipes appear to be dented or deformed.

Did you remove the plastic from the cooler’s cold plate? Also, the 212 model may have trouble cooling that component. These days, older coolers are proving to be less effective.

It is also very possible that that cooler isn't enough for a 7900x. The 7900x is a 170w chip, and the 212 halo is a single tower cooler. Also check to make sure there isn't a plastic peel on the coldplate(where the heat pipes contact the CPU.

I'll let the others tackle your temps issues. But for the BIOS, there is a simple way to do it. Your motherbaord features the : <<Q-Flash Plus:Update BIOS Without Installing the CPU, Memory and Graphics Card>>. Just remove your CPU and you'll be able to take all the time in the world to flash your BIOS. Please follow the instructions in the manual for the correct procedure. Good luck !

I removed the plastic initially when installing it. Do you have any budget-friendly suggestions for a similar cooler?

I wasn't aware of updating the BIOS without the CPU, but your thanks mean a lot! I'm glad it might ease your concerns.

The BIOS update is on its way. Don’t forget to reset the CMOS memory afterward. Keep following the instructions carefully.
