I’m keeping a hopeful outlook on this card and will seriously look into it once the non-reference cards are released...

About nine out of ten times high versus ultra doesn't really matter much... at 4K you're already so sharp that most of what makes ultra special beyond just high quality becomes irrelevant.

Absolutely, we were discussing a single high-resolution card that could handle games at 1080p resolution.

They're still dealing with your issues. Don't waste your money on expensive graphics cards—you're missing out on the real things.

It's the same scenario as when Crysis arrived. A whole generation has passed, and GPU makers aren't keeping pace with game creation. Take Nvidia, still clinging to 4GB of VRAM on mediocre cards even though they have the capability and should support the needed 6GB/384-bit bus for 1440p post-8192p textures (The Witcher 3, Star Citizen, Dying Light, The Division). The 9xx lineup so far isn't enough for Star Citizen, especially since it's still in the early stages of adding advanced rendering features and promised enhancements. A 980 Ti or 9tan card is also out of the question, as no one should be forced to spend over $600 on a frame buffer essential for top performance in today's scene.

It's likely to cost more than the 970 SLI, so I'd opt for the 970s instead. That changes things a bit. Crysis was designed to push GPU capabilities for several years, and it came at a time when resolutions jumped to 1080p, making it even harder to play smoothly at high settings. I believe the GTX 580 was the first GPU that handled this smoothly.

However, there are video games... And what exactly is this "life" you're referring to?

Sounds like you're going for a chill vibe—stick with simple setups and soak in real life, then switch things up when needed.
