Hey there, I’ve got a puzzling situation with my setup. My PC specs look solid: 1080ti, Ryzen 7 2700x, 16GB DDR4 at 3GHz, Samsung 970 EVO M.2, Asrock Taichi x370, and a 3440x1440 G-Sync monitor. It consistently scores high on userbenchmark at 135% across all categories, and 8.5k+ (80th percentile) on 3DMark Timespy. Yet, my gameplay feels pretty lackluster—especially in titles like Ring of Elysium and PUBG. My friends with 7th gen i7s and 1060s are getting better frames at the same settings. Oddly enough, neither my CPU nor GPU hits full capacity during these games, and I’m keeping temperatures in check. I’m open to suggestions—could there be another factor limiting performance?

Does your RAM support dual-channel? The 7th generation is superior to Ryzen.

Do you have a frame limiter active?
Is your PC's power plan configured for high performance?
Is your RAM operating in dual-channel mode?
Are you certain your friends are enjoying a superior gaming experience, perhaps at a lower resolution?
What are the CPU and GPU temperatures when the system is under full load?

Thanks for the feedback, the RAM setup is dual channel and I understand some 7th gen i7 models perform better than the 2700x. My main idea was they're similar, while the rest of my system has better overall specs. Edited November 13, 2018 by tprox Added tag for response

They say this is important to remember. Here’s the revised version:

People often highlight this point. What they emphasize includes key details. Their perspective helps clarify the situation.

What titles are you experiencing, and what performance metrics are you seeing?

I've experimented with G-Sync and without it, globally V-Sync is off. FPS isn't being capped—it's fluctuating between mid-range numbers with noticeable drops. It's set for high performance. My RAM is dual-channel and behaving accordingly. I'm playing on a wider aspect ratio than they are; I've tested down to 1980x1080, especially in Ring of Elysium where the frames look much worse. I don't have those exact figures, but if I recall correctly, it was around 65fps under load. I haven't tried a synthetic test yet, though that might be worth a look tonight.

V-sync turned off in PUBG at 3440x1440 gives me about 60-70 FPS, dropping to 50. In Ring of Elysium it's 40-60 FPS with drops to 30.

The frame rate matches what you expect for your display and graphics card (especially in PUBG).
