Hi,
I have a setup with the following configuration:
- Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-core, 3.80 GHz
- 64 GB of RAM
- Graphics: ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 12G DUAL EVO OC Gaming Graphics Card
This card is designed to support 4K and 8K HDR for up to three displays.
However, when I try certain monitor setups, the performance drops significantly:
- A single monitor at 3840 x 2160 works fine
- Two monitors together (3840 x 2160 and 1920 x 1440) also function well
- But with a second monitor at 3840 x 2160 and a KOORUI 27 Inch Monitors (4K UHD), the display only reaches 2560 x 1440
Windows recommends higher resolutions for the PC fans, and they seem to overheat even when nothing is running.
Do you know why this happens or how to fix it?
Thank you

I notice certain aspects remain consistent with Nvidia;
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/gra...specsmodal
visiting the page and clicking on view full specs reveals capabilities for 4K displays at 120Hz. This prompts a question about the refresh rates of your monitors for each resolution. How are the screens connected to the discrete GPU in this setup? (I’m unsure if it’s the CPU fan or the display card.) It might help to identify the source of the noise. Try rolling up an A4 sheet into a cylinder, holding one end toward your ear while the other probes for the noise origin.

Which Nvidia driver version are you using for your GPU? Also, it’s typical for GPU clock speeds to increase when additional displays are added.

BIOS version of your motherboard at this time?

You reviewed the situation and confirmed the loudness originates from the CPU, not the graphics card. The fans on the card are quiet and running at low speeds. It appears unusual since the noise level is high despite normal CPU usage. The system runs at 60Hz with BIOS version A30. When CPU load rises, noise increases but all cores remain under 20% and sometimes up to 40%. The fan speed seems excessive given the workload. You’ve already installed a quiet CPU fan, but you’re seeking ways to further reduce noise and maintain low speeds. Thank you.
