And that fan isn't connected to anything either. It seems I ran out of fans because all three of my Foxconn 3.5k RPM ones are aimed at me. I don’t like overheating when sitting down, and I didn’t want annoying mosquito bites. So I removed one from an AM4 copper cooler and installed it on the RAM slots as I’m doing some heavy DDR3 RAM overclocking. I wasn’t expecting such fast performance. It still doesn’t move much air. Is this typical behavior for these stock AMD fans with AM4 copper coolers? I might want to share a preview of the RAM overclock I’m doing, which is stabilizing the RAM frequency on Nehalem. I’m using two sticks (the third channel is limited), so I’m only planning to use them on a kit I’ll sell. I’m testing Hynix CFR dual-sided sticks because I only need them to run at 2100-2200 MHz (1156 kit). The stable frequency I’m hitting is around 2800, which isn’t bad, but honestly I’m a bit let down with Hynix CFR since they already require 2.06V and I suspect they’ll cap it soon. Maybe it’s because these are double-sided, so single-sided CFRs might perform better. For OEM RAM modules with pretty basic PCBs, it’s still decent, but I was hoping for something above 3200. So those 1GB GDDR5 sticks seem to be the best I have. ASUS and other makers don’t offer uncore:memclk ratios, which is disappointing since I expected more like 3200+ from this chipset. Probably just the double-sided design affecting performance. For RAM modules that are dual-sided, single-sided CFRs could be a bit slower. Still, it’s not terrible, but overall it feels underwhelming compared to what I was hoping for.

Turn on the third channel, you're abandoning performance. Dual channel isn't ideal for X58, though it functions.

third channel appears to cap around 2600, yet i've managed 2700 and even 2800. it really needs more extra vdimm, so i'm searching for a better board. i've spent 5-6 hours trying to hit 3000 stable, but even at 2.5v it doesn't work. the x58 seems disappointed, especially with c11 requirements. my goal is to resell this board, at least I can promote 2800 ddr3 stable. the cpu imc can still improve, so i'm considering some ics that support 3000+ and looking for a nehalem with better imc. hope this 930 doesn't end up with a golden sample; i think a 950 would be better since it walls at 3000 with gdie and 2900 with psc compared to the 930 that walls at 3100 gdie and 3200+ psc. curious about the w35xx xeons, as they seem like xeon counterparts. maybe i can secure a good bin for imc instead? any ideas on 2gbit ics that can handle 3000+? Otherwise, i'll go with 4gbit manufacturers.

It seems like you're expressing frustration. Maybe it's either a 1GbT connection or a 4GbT model?

I'm confident I received around 1300 on a UD5 with 3x1GB Adata Hypers on a 970.

only at 2.8 it worked, should be around 4.0 or higher. even with dominant hardware it was tough to get stable on that platform. people tried and kept failing. my dad had the dominators and I had the 920 plus some gskill ram. he thought my 920 was a bit better than his 960 if I had more RAM. he set it to 4.0 but it still failed, which is sad because I ended up in a road zero. I don’t really understand why more RAM doesn’t always help—maybe it’s about the controller getting too hot or something. But for gaming, definitely tripling the specs would make a big difference.

We discussed data transfer rates
The topic centered on storage performance
Focused on how quickly information could be accessed

It seems like you're questioning why the low uncore is there and think it's unfair. You might want to boost the rest of the team.
