High-resolution PBO with Curve Optimizer compared to static OC
When exploring online, I adjust my Windows Power Plan to Power Saver, which reduces core voltages below 1v and maintains temperatures between 30-35 degrees. With my previous Zen 2 Ryzen, switching to Balanced and enabling OC in Ryzen Master helped boost performance over stock while keeping temps and power use low during gaming. For a Zen 3 Ryzen, I should follow the same approach or explore PBO2 with Curve Optimiser.
Get familiar with it. All cores at 4400 are a bit underwhelming.
It's a subtle OC, but it could easily exceed 4600 at around 1.2x speed.
Ryzen isn't fond of static overclocks; they can harm the chip. Using PBO and Curve Optimized is strongly advised. For games, PBO can significantly enhance single cores beyond what static overclocking provides.
Maintaining low idle temperatures during PBO with Curve Optimized is possible. Running web browsing, Reddit, or YouTube in Power Saver mode would still be feasible but may affect performance.
Curve Optimizer can help lower the temperature a bit. Ryzen tends to get warm no matter what, so invest in a solid cooler if you're concerned about heat. For power settings, stick to the balanced preset in Windows—it manages itself well. You should see temperatures around 40°C during low load and up to 80°C under heavy use for a well-balanced PBO setup.
My Dark Rock Pro 4 looks great, it seems to cover everything well.
It's typical to observe voltage fluctuations ranging from 1.45 to 8 for these CPUs.
