Hey there! I'm just starting out with PC gaming and I'm confused about graphics settings. I have this Windows PC with a Ryzen 5600X, GTX 1060, and some storage drives. I'm using a 32GB DDR4 3600MT RAM, a 256GB NVMe SSD for the system, and a 500GB SATA SSD for data. I'm using a 27-inch 4K monitor. At first, I didn't really focus on the settings and saw some screen issues. Then I adjusted the resolution from 1440p to 2160p and changed rendering quality, which fixed the tearing. I also tried 1080p with high quality settings and it worked fine.
I'm wondering which resolution gives the best picture quality—high or low resolution? Which is lighter on the CPU? I noticed my CPU temperature spikes a lot (90-95°C) even though usage stays low. When I close the game, the CPU temps drop but stay above 10%. Maybe my cooler isn't doing enough? I've already checked the CPU and replaced thermal paste, but that's not the end of the story. So you have screen tearing because your game is running under or below the 60hz refresh rate of the monitor. Turning on vsync or limiting fps to 60 will normally fix this issue. Also what aio is it from msi it is NOT supposed to run that hot and there has been a recall recently because the aio clogs up with slime. Yours might be one of those. As for settings do whatever looks best to you.
Aim for a solid 1080p resolution instead of trying for 4K. Focus on settings that maintain around 60+ frames per second and keep sync with your monitor’s refresh rate. Your AIO might have struggled, so reinstalling the stock cooler should significantly improve performance.
Consider a steady frame per second and adjust the quality and specifics as needed.
