I recently switched to a 9700KF and noticed a significant performance improvement. I installed it at 5.2ghz with just over 1.42 volts. My cooling system is a dark rock pro 4. It's worth noting I have a 360mm fractal s36 in front for my 2070s. In Cinebench r20 (under full load), temperatures range from 85 to 95°C with fans running at 80 to 100% capacity. The GPU stays around 38°C during testing, which affects CPU temps but shouldn't be extreme. I plan to adjust the voltages later, but I'm only a few months into overclocking so I'll monitor it. Running the CPU at 1.42V is normal, especially with high temperatures. If you reach 95°C during Cinebench, expect throttling in stress tests like Prime95. Adjust your overclock accordingly. Also, do you have a 360mm CLC AIO for your 2070S?

It's not advised to use 1.4v regularly for everyday activities.

Your current cooling system isn't enough for your needs. Consider using a higher-performance cooler or reducing the voltage.

I hadn't felt confident working with those voltages before, but yesterday changed that. I reached 1.38v and temperatures dropped significantly—mostly below 85°C, with a few cores hitting 87°C. My Cinebench score jumped about 150 points, now sitting at 4020p. I also experimented with higher clock speeds, achieving 4 cores at 5.3 and 4 cores at 5.2, though temperatures rose again and performance throttled. This setup runs on an NZXT Kraken G12, an MSI Ventus OC—though it wasn't the most efficient cooler and was quite noisy.

I experimented with the voltages a bit last night and reached 1.38v. Temperatures dropped mainly under 85°C. I plan to use it at those high frequencies since it could boost Fortnite performance by about 70 frames on lower settings.

I thought performance would improve since the CPU used about 190 watts. I reduced the voltage to 1.38 volts. Current consumption dropped to roughly 155 watts, and temperatures stayed under 85°C.

I don't anticipate strong performance. Signal strength doesn't improve much with voltage changes, particularly if it raises temperatures too high. Your chip may fail soon if it runs at such high heat and speed.

1.38V works well on Coffee Lake, and 85°C is suitable for ongoing operation.
