For a reason, my internet came back to normal. I was looking at purchasing an Asus router and a new modem under $120. Could you assist me with that? My parents keep being pushed to use the ones they provided.

The cheapest modem is around 50 dollars. Most likely, you’ll end up spending over 100 if you go with 8x4 models that only reach up to 200 Mbps. A good router typically costs about 70 dollars. I’m not sure if you have phone service, but I’m just asking since it’s harder to purchase a modem than anything else.

Check the Comcast-compatible devices page for guidance. It helps identify which modems work with your cable setup. The suggested options are usually the Arris 6183 or Netgear CM600, provided you don’t have voice service enabled.

Honestly, Xfinity doesn’t live up to expectations. My router works great, I use a wired connection, but I still face 70 ping—way too high for competitive gaming. My friend with the same plan has the same issue.
