Recently the internet has been quite slow for gaming and doing multiple tasks. It once felt like a bandwidth problem because I couldn’t play Overwatch and Discord together, but now even opening Overwatch is laggy due to high ping. Is there another reason besides a faulty router? My computer still runs smoothly when loading web pages and works well on other Wi-Fi networks.

Do you connect to the internet via Wi-Fi or a wired link to the modem? What results did your speed tests show? I faced a comparable problem and Xfinity arrived at my home, only to discover my WiFi card had stopped working.

What speed are you connected to? Are you using their modem/router or your own? What are your modem signal strengths? Is this issue with a wired setup or only wireless?

Many factors might be involved, isn't it always this way or just at certain moments? It could be an overbooked node, poor connections between you and the node, a faulty device, weak signal from the node, a cable issue nearby, or worn infrastructure due to heat or humidity.

I can't use wired connections since they run through the house. Many gadgets now need to handle multiple tasks, and we're relying on Xfinity rentals because my parents are hesitant to switch. We currently have 75mb up and 12mb down. I've noticed this issue before. Also, resetting the router resolved it for about five minutes.

I noticed you're close to the modem; you might want to switch to the 2.4GHz band instead of the 5.0.

Adjust the settings to 2.4 and ensure the router is positioned above your PC in the upper part of the room. A cable will need to loop around the house.

Log into the router and modify the Wi-Fi settings to distinguish the connections before connecting.

Sure, I'll take care of it when I get back. My brother's having some issues, and his Wi-Fi card only supports 2.4 GHz.
