Hey there! Your gaming rig looks solid with that i7-9750H and GTX 1660ti Max-Q. But it seems some tougher games are dropping their frames to around 25 FPS lately, which is starting to get frustrating. If anyone can point out what’s going on, I’d really appreciate it. Note: This issue began about two months ago, and you mentioned using Gamebenchmark: Tales of the Rise.

It might be thermal throttling. The temperature reading of 91°C is quite high. I've considered undervolting to reduce heat. If performance remains stable, it could indicate overheating. Also, the CPU is at 96°C overall—running hot. Have you increased fan speed?

Sure! Let me help you with that. Could you clarify what you mean by "HP computer" and what you're trying to do? That way I can give you the most accurate guidance.

The temps all across the board are terrible but the problem is your GPU is at 300Mhz. If its at 91c at 300Mhz, something is very wrong. You could try to DDU and reinstall the Nvidia drivers as a first step.

Previously tried DDU without success, currently using temperature settings instead.

I'd look in the BIOS to see if there are any fan settings available. If not, I'd try speedfan and MSI afterburner. Also, could the fans and vents be covered in dust or debris? Have you inspected them?

Its overheating... Since you're saying this started recently, its probably safe to say the laptop needs a good cleaning... Open it up, blow the dust out , there are special blowers for pcs, not too expensive. I wouldn't change thermal paste etc, just now, see if cleaning it helps first. If its still overheating. Fresh thermal paste for cpu and gpu. Ps: i doubt undervolting helps much, its also just "fixing" the symptoms rather than the cause.

It seems the laptop was likely used for about two years ago and hasn't been serviced recently. Fully taking it apart to clean out dust and grime, then applying fresh thermal paste should help. This process can cause significant throttling, as the GPU tries to manage heat. Regular maintenance is essential for laptops and gaming models, similar to cars or sports cars—typically every 2 to 6 months depending on usage and conditions.

Their GPU running at 300MHz while overheating suggests undervolting may offer little benefit here.

It seems everything looks fine at first with the thermal and fans, but the GPU stays warm and performance drops during gameplay. The cause isn’t clear yet.
