I planned to create a budget build until I could afford a 5600x and 6800x, so I could upgrade to a 3300x or 3500x for the same cost. (Yes, the 3300x is available here and costs 150 USD.) I’m deciding between two options: one with 4 cores and 8 threads, the other with 6 cores and 6 threads. I think the 3500x is better, and I can get a 3100 for 120 dollars. I’ll test it out and stream, using a Radeon 6800.

3300x works well, but for a budget option consider a 2600 or 1600AF instead.

No, you cannot utilize a GPU encoder with the 6800 processor.

If the 6800 supports a strong GPU encoder, aim for 3300x. Otherwise, target 3500x or higher, maybe up to 3600.

You're wondering why you'd want a temporary CPU if you're already thinking about purchasing the 5600X. It seems like you're questioning whether waiting a week would be a good idea, especially since it might not seem like a worthwhile investment.

It's not meant to be a temporary fix. I plan to keep it for a few years before upgrading to a 5800x, and I can improve other components too. Saving a 3100 might work, but could create a bottleneck later?
