I checked how well overclocking a 5600X performed. Honestly, I doubt the benefits will justify the effort, but others have shared their experiences. Right now, I'm using a rog strix B550A motherboard with viper RAM boosted to 3800 CL16, and I play games at 1440p resolution.

You can boost performance by 100-200MHz across all cores, but you’ll lose 200-300MHz on single cores. The value depends on your usage—sometimes it’s beneficial, other times it’s just a time waste. For overclocking, focus on RAM instead. The 3800C16 chip works well; keep timing settings precise since they have a bigger impact than CAS latency most of the time.

I understood your thoughts well. I also changed my sub timings to 16-16-16. I attempted a 3600 cl 14, but it didn’t work.

It's better to focus on the extra power the CPU will consume rather than the time wasted. The 5600x can hit a maximum boost clock of 4.6ghz. With an all-core overclock, you might see only a slight improvement in workloads without any gaming advantages. Performance won't drop.

What capacity are you supplying? Likely you should aim for at least 16-15-15, unless you boost the DRAM voltage to around 1.5V—most setups can run cool without active cooling with Samsung B Die, especially if your memory supports stable 16s speeds. The lowest B Die kit I've used has handled 3800MHz CL16-15-13-21 on a 5900X.

It should reach 4650 right out of the box. Using PBO and CO might add another 200MHz, pushing it to 4850. The 5600X is rated for 65W by default, but I've noticed 150W PPT models with a strong PBO OC. With a top-end air cooler it performs excellently.

Based on my knowledge, the AMD platform rounds up odd timing values to the nearest even number. However, I might be mistaken and this behavior applies only to certain cases. Right now, I'm using 1.5v, but I could experiment more with different timing settings—though 3800 at 16-16-16 seems quite unusual.

Only specific intervals need even timing, tCL, tCWL, tRTP and a few more. tRCDs, tRAS and other cases work just fine at odd times when GDM is on. If you turn off GDM you can still use odd timings. These are the schedules I'm using with GDM active, thankfully with great performance, though 16-15-15 might be achievable. Spoiler!

It makes sense. Getting the most out of it would mean operating at 4900-5000MHz.
