High performance Ryzen 5 3600 under load
I recently switched from an i3 4160 to a Ryzen 5 3600 and noticed the temperatures are higher than expected during idle and gaming. The idle temps hover between 60-80 degrees, but gaming stays around 95+ even with the BIOS set to auto and the XMP profile for 3200MHz RAM. Could the temps be too high? Thanks.
Ensure the cooler is positioned properly. Verify your SOC and CPU voltage settings.
The voltage is too high. Did you install the stock CPU cooler? The low temperatures suggest it might be misplaced.
The standard voltage for Ryzen is 1.4V, which is quite elevated.
Ryzen has some roughness with high auto-voltage settings. Your motherboard might be delivering too much power. Many utilities aren't very precise. I believe Ryzen Master could monitor the voltage, so you could install it and see the readings while gaming.
