Hello everyone, I have a query. I bought the Corsair DDR4 Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB Kit at 3600MHz, but the Dutch webshop advertised an optimized Ryzen version instead. Did this change affect performance noticeably, or is it just marketing? Here are my system details: Case – NZXT H5 Elite; Motherboard – Aorus B550 Elite AX V2; PSU – Be Quiet! Pure Power 12 M 1000W; CPU – AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D; Cooler – NZXT Kraken Z3; RAM – 32GB Corsair DDR4 Vengeance RGB Pro (3600MHz); GPU – RTX 4070 Windforce; Storage – 4TB NVMe SSD. The BIOS is up to date.

I answered myself on AM4, relying mainly on D.O.C.P. These settings work across different platforms mostly. After Zen 1 and 2, Ryzen improved by grouping the first batch with DRAM chips that fit better with their processors, such as Samsung B-Die. Nowadays, even those aren't always reliable since stability is more common with cheaper options like Hynix DJR and Micron E Die.

It doesn't affect anything. The system works smoothly in the BIOS' EXPO/DHCP settings. I use Intel-optimized RAM on my server, and it functions just fine with my 5600X3D.

just empty marketing fluff except for saying XMP RAM won't deliver true tuning performance because of poor default settings and subpar secondary and tertiary timings. Don't forget the generic cases that come with outdated components like Samsung C Die B Die, which is essentially the opposite of what you need on Zen+. If you're looking for any real frequency stability, it's heavily reliant on the IMX chip. While older Corsair 3200C16 XMPS models came with mostly low-quality chips that were barely better than 8Gb/s, others managed to run at 3600 even with a single stick. The IMX in Zen+ is significantly better, as shown here.

No DDR4 is truly optimized for either. Now DDR5 can be a little, but it still works fine.

I’d lean toward the contrary. Some DDR4 boards used PCBs that didn’t suit the Ryzen memory controller, which is why many “Ryzen optimized” labels appeared. For kits after about 2018, they’re essentially uniform, though from 2016 to 2017 there was a brief period where Ryzen Optimized options made a difference. As for DDR5, the EXPO/XMP discussions are mostly about formatting, not real differences, so I wouldn’t treat them as optimized for either type.
