I doubt my 1060 6 gb will surpass 300 fps in CS:GO. I haven’t noticed anyone hitting that number before. Could it be the fps_max 0 setting, or is there another command I’m missing?

The fps_max command is probably the issue. Having more than 300 frames per second is also not helpful.

It's strange how it always crosses that line. Small details in life really catch my attention.

By default the settings limit frames per second, but I’m not sure what that means.

They reduce the settings since it provides benefits (higher resolution means more enemies and increased focus). Adjusting shadows increases enemy visibility.

Back in the day, top players lowered settings for practical reasons and adapted to them. Now some stick to higher settings, but gradually more are returning to 190x1080. It's a slow process, but everyone is catching on.

Yes, it stays within 300 frames. You need to set fps_max to zero. Use 4:3 black bars to help focus on the center. Stretch 4:3 because the heads are larger, not for speed.

I enjoy a 4:3 format since my vision is nearsighted and it's tough to see enemies on a 16:9 screen. I haven't noticed a big improvement in my gameplay, but it does help. Some experts still favor 16:9, just a matter of personal preference.

CS:GO runs smoothly at up to 300 frames per second by default. Even with powerful hardware, performance can fluctuate, making the limit helpful to maintain stability.
