Hi all, I recently played the latest Call of Duty and was experiencing around 60-80fps at 1440p with default high/ultra settings. To get a smoother feel, I lowered most of the settings to low/normal, though I did notice a slight improvement. The game still often stays near 80fps when using mostly low settings. I attached a screenshot showing my task manager overlay; it looks like memory usage is consistently high. Recently, other games have shown similar memory spikes, but I hadn’t noticed any performance drops before. Right now, with just one open tab and Discord running (not in any channels), my memory usage is at 71%. I wasn’t expecting this issue, especially since I built the PC last year and already have 32GB of RAM. I assumed an upgrade was needed mainly due to the GPU’s 8GB VRAM, but this memory problem seems to be the bigger concern. I’m hoping someone with more experience can suggest a fix or upgrade path to resolve it. My PC specs are: CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Cooler - Lian Li Galahad II Trinity AIO 360mm, Motherboard - ASUS RoG Strix X670E-A, GPU - Gigabyte Aorus RTX 3070 8GB RAM, 32GB Kingston FURY BEAST RGB (6000MHz) with two 16GB sticks, PSU - MSI MPG A1000G, Storage - 2TB Samsung 980 Pro. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I can't directly access the Task Manager or modify its details. However, you can open the Details tab in Task Manager, add a new column named "Commit size," and save your changes. Let me know if you need guidance on how to do that!

It might seem odd, but does your GPU have a shared memory option in Task Manager? Some motherboards allow RAM sharing with the GPU. If the GPU lacks sufficient VRAM, it could begin relying on your system's memory. You could also check Microsoft PC Manager to see if your RAM is storing cached data.

The first file shows the PC idle with no games running, while the second displays the PC active with Call of Duty open and playing.

It appears to agree, yet it seems to be being used very little or not at all.

Checked the main memory section and noticed cached memory entries. Ran PC Manager to review further. Cleared temporary files and stopped inactive background processes.

I attempted to download and launch the app, realizing it isn't accessible in the UK, so I adjusted my region settings. It transitioned from the first image to the second. Uncertain if this indicates another problem, but I’ll continue testing until I resolve it.

The allocated memory exceeds what was shown in your screenshot, though it remains significantly lower than the 85.4 GB recorded in your initial image.

I believe I've managed to somewhat fix the issue by changing the value for "ClearPageFileAtShutdown" from 0 to 1 and then "Start" from 2 to 4. Now when watching content on YouTube my task manager shows around 25% utilization which is much better than the 71% it showed previously. Not sure if this is just a temporary fix but seems to have solved it for now while gaming too
