High memory or RAM consumption without any apparent cause.
I recently assembled a new PC and notice this consistently. RAM is reaching extreme speeds. I haven’t seen anything like this in five builds for family and friends over the years—either gaming or just running in idle mode. Processes are using only about a gigabit with just a browser and SignalRGB. Based on what I observe, my specs are: CPU Ryzen 7 7700X GPU Red Devil 7900XTX Memory/RAM 2x16GB Corsair Dominators @ EXPO 5200MHZ (also tried T Force Delta 6000MHZ). This isn’t an issue even with stock or EXPO enabled, and my PSU is a Corsair 850RMx.
Task manager could be stuck on that section. Consider trying to install hwinfo64 and check if it still shows the issue.
Check if the value is static or fluctuating. Make sure no extra background processes are running. Consider turning off non-essential programs at startup via Task Manager.
I didn’t set up any programs until all updates were finished. I should’ve included more info in the main post. Sorry. I installed Windows on a brand new NVMe drive. Even after restarting, it still lags around 80–90. No apps run directly—only signalRGB works. It drops to about 87% when I close Steam or my browser. Once it hits that level, it stays there. Right now, RAM usage seems almost constant. When I open something or close it, it drops roughly 2–4%.
Are you looking for alternative RAM options, a different Windows version, or another motherboard and CPU?
I used T force ram and Corsair Dominators that run at 6000mhz on Expo, but the problem persists. Just changed the motherboards two days ago—I don’t have another now. It’s happening with both. No other CPU is installed, and it’s on water, so I’m hesitant to try more changes. Also, there’s an update. A clean boot works fine; selective services in system settings are normal. Soon I’ll revert to the original and it should fix again. Right now I’m in the game with only about 40% usage. The worst part.
Navigate to the Resource Manager Memory section and arrange by highest value in KB. What are the leading five processes?
