basically everything is fine, just a lot of activity. The memory kept climbing until it hit 3.7GB for the popup only, and Facebook was using about 1GB alone in the background. My usage was around 7GB out of 8GB. When I tried to capture a screenshot, the popup crashed again. Is there a solution or is this a typical Chrome issue?

It seems to be a bug within Chrome that's been going around, no fix yet other than using Firefox.

It's been recognized that Chrome consumes a lot of resources in various ways, and it appears to have some kind of memory leak. It doesn't get its responsiveness easily—every tab runs as its own process, and even videos seem to operate independently (possibly incorrect). I'm using Chrome less frequently these days, particularly since the issue with CCleaner can corrupt the pref file and reset everything to defaults, even when sync is enabled. Right now it feels like a hassle to use and behaves more like an operating system than a simple process.

Hmm, why should Chrome use extra memory when it's already using a lot? I don’t think I’ll have room for anything else.
