Hello, welcome to the forums! I've been following Linus for a while and have been building PCs since the early days of the first AMD 1GHz processor. Recently, I bought a 3600 from Best Buy after losing my 1700X during a transfer to a new case and motherboard. I've observed some odd high idle temperatures on my new 3600 45C 55C, and it doesn't lower its clock speed. I've updated the BIOS, but with limited results. The only solution I found was forcing the voltage to 1.000V, which feels like it's restricting the CPU. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm using a deepcool air cooler.

My setup behaves similarly, so it seems normal. A few adjustments could help: visit the AMD website, install the newest chipset drivers, and apply the Ryzen Balanced power plan. A couple more tweaks might make a difference. You can also use Windows’ built-in power-saving plan, which caps the CPU at 2GHz but keeps light tasks responsive. I changed this setting before installing my Be Quiet cooler. Feel free to modify your power plan, set a minimum CPU usage of 20%, or switch between power-saving and performance modes using the Asus board or AI Suite. There’s also an app in the Windows Store called Power Plan Switcher that adds a tray icon for easy switching.
