You'll need a popup prompt to confirm when creating a thread involving "high idle" and "Ryzen." It should direct you to a PBO/Curve Optimizer tutorial and AMD's official guide on normal settings.

To stay safe, you should turn the PBO off.

browsing isn't idle; the CPU is handling tabs, windows, and other tasks. The 8700 is a 95W TDP processor with 6 cores and 12 threads, clocked at 4.7Ghz, while the Turbo 7950x3D has a 120W TDP, 16 cores, 32 threads, and high-speed clocks up to 5.7Ghz as per its official specs.

You don't have to do it, but it's okay to enable it—it will increase the aggression a bit while still protecting itself. At least that's what the factory intended.

I rebooted the PC and began using hwinfo to monitor CPU temperatures, which showed 60 degrees. What bothers me is that while core temperatures are normal, the CPU-TCTL/Tdie values appear excessively high during idle mode. Thanks to everyone for your fast and helpful replies!

They're okay with the idle temperatures. Both my 7700x and mine handle it similarly. We likely receive 5 to 7 updates each week on this subject. Everything seems fine. Keep using the machine normally.

It matches what users experience with higher temperatures in a better cooler using an AM5 Ryzen processor.

Reference data collection for Cinebench R23 to evaluate your previous sample of 1 (now discontinued). Later entries include direct-die tests with and without aggressive undervolting, especially for addressing thermal challenges with the 7950x3D.
