High idle and heavy workload temperatures on the new i7-10700k processor
Hi, your brother bought a prebuilt PC from Newegg about two months ago. He’s having problems with his CPU—specs include an Intel Core i7-10700k with AIO cooling, RTX 3090, and 32 GB RAM. After a few weeks, the CPU would idle around 60°C and spike to 90°C during intense games. It seems to happen randomly, sometimes dropping back to normal temps (40°C idle, 65°C under load). Under-volting didn’t help, and the Intel diagnostic tool didn’t point to the CPU as faulty. He thinks the liquid cooler is the issue, but we’re not sure. We’ve already contacted HP support. Any advice would be great.
