Hello, I'm experiencing a problem with my Ryzen 5 3600 that keeps getting hot. During stress tests using CPU-Z, Furmark, and Prime95, I typically see around 65°C, while my new AIO cooler only draws about 46W. For comparison, my older Hyper 212 EVO averaged 70-72°C. In Ryzen Master, when I click "Apply & Test," the temperature spikes to nearly 90°C and the power draw exceeds 90W. When idle, the temp can jump from a normal 32-33°C to 45-50°C unexpectedly. I've attached some screenshots of these tests: Picture 1 shows the Ryzen Master test, Picture 2 is CPU-Z data, Picture 3 displays the same with no overclock, and Picture 4 is Furmark without overclocking. I'm also including my waterblock removal and direct connection setup for troubleshooting. Recently I switched to Windows 11 and updated all drivers, but the issue persists. The stock voltage in Ryzen Master is listed as 1.41875V. My specs include a Frostflow X 240 radiator, PRIME B350M-A cooler, ASUS PRIME B350M-A motherboard, EVGA RTX 2080, and other components. I'm curious if changing the thermal paste or removing the waterblock from the splitter could help. Also, I noticed the default voltage in Ryzen Master is 1.41875V. What should I do next?
Realistically, a cinebench or prime95 stress test aims to push cooling systems to their limits. My 2600X can comfortably handle 3.95 all-core video encoding (112W) on stock cooling at 92°C for extended periods. As long as overheating isn’t an issue, you should be okay. Unless you’re regularly applying such high loads, there’s no need to worry. If it normally runs around 65°C during regular gameplay, that’s normal. The brief temperature increases you mention are typical for standard cooling solutions. For the 1.42v setting, Ryzen tends to run at higher voltage during idle, which is still within specifications (1.5v would exceed limits).
