Hi there, I built a new PC and just upgraded the GPU, but lately my games keep freezing. Here’s what I have: Gigabyte Z690 Gaming DDR4 (new), Intel I5-13600kf (new), 4 x 8GB Corsair vengeance LPX (used), Samsung 990 PRO M.2 SSD (new), Gigabyte Aorus RTX 3080 Xtreme (used), Corsair RM1000X (used), and a PSU from the second-hand market that makes a slight whine. I’m barely able to run games like Warzone 2, Fortnite, or Assassin's Creed Origins without any freezes. Only my game itself crashes, not the windows. At first I thought the PSU was bad because it hums a bit, but it worked fine with my old RTX 2070. Now I see spikes in GPU usage in Task Manager when it happens. It’s frustrating since I’m spending money on good hardware. Could you help me figure out what’s causing this? Thanks, Charly.

Hi there! I haven't tested any other NVIDIA drivers yet. I thought it would be helpful to explore different ones to see what works best. A faulty driver might be the reason for the issue you're experiencing.

Thank you for your feedback Trinity-W. I've tried multiple drivers with my GPU, but it seems performance has dropped since my last update. I plan to reinstall older drivers to see if stability improves. Concerning Windows, a fresh installation last month doesn't seem likely the cause, but I wonder if checking other Windows versions or NVIDIA settings could help. Regarding GPU BIOS updates, they might be worth considering—would that pose any risks? Appreciate your patience and support!

It would help to get back on track and run smoothly. Experiment with different drivers instead of sticking to just one. This will give you a better understanding. Some drivers are simply unreliable. Check if your computer is using performance mode in power settings and whether your GPU is set to performance mode in NVIDIA preferences. I think the issue might be related to graphics settings. Consider updating your BIOS, but proceed carefully and take your time reviewing the changes.
