High GPU Memory temp
High GPU Memory temp
Hello everyone. I own an original RTX 3080, specifically the non-light hash rate 10GB model. It was purchased new a few months ago. Recently, while using Hardware Monitor on my second monitor during gaming sessions, I observed that although the overall temperature stays in the mid to high 70s, the memory temperature reaches the high 90s and has reached a maximum of 102°C. The GPU hotspot temperature doesn’t seem to exceed the mid 90s, as I recall. My main worry was about the memory temperatures being elevated.
This issue tends to occur more frequently during GPU-intensive tasks such as triple AAA single-player games. However, it still happens with esport FPS titles like CS2 and OW2, where I keep the settings low to achieve the highest FPS, yet still experience high memory temperatures.
Thank you.
Think about reapplying the GPU and swapping out the thermal pads for something better. Over time, the cooler would have gathered dust and grime that was blocking heat flow, so a thorough cleaning would also be beneficial.
You're wondering if it was a good time to disassemble the item and perform some maintenance, especially since you plan to upgrade it later. A fresh refresh would benefit the next owner as well. Thanks!
