High frame rates versus limited frames plus G-sync technology
High frame rates versus limited frames plus G-sync technology
Fake news? Check your references. V-sync conflicts with G-sync and should be turned off in all settings if you're using a variable refresh rate GPU with a monitor.
Thanks for the information. I hadn't realized this mix-up. From what I've read elsewhere, v-sync restricts the frame rate to match your monitor's refresh limit when the GPU pushes more than that. Once you go beyond your monitor's max, you experience input lag. Capping your frame rate just a few Hz below the monitor's limit is the ideal way to keep g-sync active and prevent lag that comes with v-sync. This issue seems specific to "g-sync compatible" screens. The other two versions (with a built-in module or premium features) don't face this problem because of the overdrive handling, even without a frame cap.
Thanks for the feedback. I think this matches what I was expecting, and I recall seeing a similar video before. Even with the availability of +300hz monitors today, it seems like many people balance higher frame rates against smoother gameplay.
I notice that the extra overflow only causes the CPU to warm up due to redundant processing.
