High frame rates cause micro stuttering and it is frustrating.
Frame rate drops below 60 immediately noticeable, resulting in stuttering at 59-58 FPS which negatively impacts gameplay. System specifications: i7 9700k, GTX 1070, 16 GB RAM, SSD, 60Hz DVI monitor. Nvidia Inspector used to limit FPS to 60, no VSync. Monitoring during a frame rate drop from 60 to 59 revealed GPU temperature of 60°C at 60% usage and CPU temperature of 40°C at 40% usage. This issue occurs across multiple games including Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Metro Exodus, Dishonored 2, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, and Darksiders 3. The microstuttering is distracting and prevents focused gameplay. A test in Metro Exodus revealed a consistent drop to 59 or 58 FPS every two minutes.
Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove the GPU drivers, then install the newest driver version.
