I'm asking this since my computer is low-end, and if I cut the field of view to the smallest possible, can I still maintain a steady frame rate in games, especially Red Dead Redemption 2? I heard somewhere that changing the FOV might influence how well the game runs. Thanks ahead.

It really varies depending on the game. The more visible the scene becomes for the player, the greater the workload the computer must handle to display those elements, which can reduce the frames per second. This happens because the game now needs to render a larger portion of the environment, including more textures and assets. You can easily spot this by observing increased demands on your CPU or GPU when you increase the field of view.

It really depends on the game. The more the player can view, the greater the effort the computer must put in to display those objects, which can lower or affect the FPS. If the field of view is larger, the system has to render more elements like textures and assets. This increase in load can be observed by noticing higher demands on your CPU or GPU when you maximize the FOV.

This also verifies my previous thoughts regarding the Render Scale setting. Temperatures drop significantly when lowering it to around 85% in certain other titles. Thank you very much for your detailed response. From now on, I will adjust my FOV in those high-end AAA games. This is mainly due to the age of my hardware, which is nearly five years old or more. Thanks again.
