I recently set up a new gaming setup. I'm experiencing problems in games such as Apex and mw. I have a G-Sync monitor, and if I don't cap the FPS around 155 or so, and just rely on G-Sync, the game still stutters and lags. Even though I'm consistently hitting over 160 FPS, the performance drops to around 165 or higher. It can jump up to 168 or 169 sometimes. I've tried setting the FPS cap to 165 in my NVIDIA settings, but it doesn't improve smoothness. BUT if I lower the FPS cap to 160 instead, things run more smoothly. I've had this issue before—I don't know what's causing it. Could be something with my new rig? Here are my specs:

Gigabyte ULTRA x570 MB Ryzen 9 3900X (Water cooled)
ASUS RTX 2080TI 32GB Gskill Tridentz 3200Mhz RAM
2TB SSD
850W power supply

I believe the issue you're referring to is screen tearing. This happens when the GPU sends more frames than the display can manage, causing overlapping or jumping images.

Sure, it can feel a bit choppy sometimes, but I do have G-Sync to help with that.

If the frame rate exceeds your monitor's maximum refresh rate, turn on V-Sync to ensure the game doesn't surpass the display's capabilities.

gsync assists if the frame rate drops below the monitor's refresh rate. Use VSYNC to prevent it from exceeding the refresh rate.

It seems the display lags because your refresh rate is lower than the game's target, causing a mismatch. The numbers 167/169 might reflect the actual frame rate being rendered, which can appear stuttered at 165Hz.

I sense a strange feeling in the surface—like it’s moving or breaking unpredictably. It’s difficult to put into words.

Your GPU is delivering 169 frames, which exceeds the 165 limit. Your monitor is getting more frames than it supports. Enable VSync in the game settings.

Just started playing Cod now—it's running sluggishly and feels unstable even at 140fps, what's happening?
