Hey there, I'm planning to relocate to the US next year and will need a computer for video editing and gaming. I enjoy playing games such as PUBG and Rocket League, but I'm open to higher-end titles. For video editing, I work with Premiere Pro and After Effects, while Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom handle my photography and design needs. I might also explore animation using Adobe Flash. Overall, I rely heavily on Adobe software. My budget is around $800, though I could stretch it to $1000 if it makes sense. The reason for this is that I’d like a monitor built into the setup. I already own a mouse, mousepad, and keyboard. I’ve had a preference for laptops too, since they’d let me have one device for school and another at home, but in reality I think most of my intensive work will stay at home.

Tomorrow the environment will look completely different. Upcoming GPUs, Zen 2 at 7nm, and more. Think about it next year.

Many new cards are coming soon. Observing the 9 to 10 generation Nvidia cards, the strongest 900 (980 TI) shows slightly poorer performance compared to the 1070. It’s wiser to wait for the next card release before investing in a more powerful one. If you need something immediately, consider grabbing a used 780 from eBay for around $180.

Ask next year, don't worry too much about it now.

I’m not sure why I mentioned next year, but I meant next semester around September. Probably too early to plan, though. I think I’m really excited, maybe too much. I’ll probably buy everything in the US just to avoid worrying now. Thanks!

Wait until the purchase is nearer. Prices will change, and you might find some favorable offers. If you wish to track costs, add another question in New builds to understand the price range for each part.
