I’m experiencing slightly elevated temperatures around 55°C with no CPU load. The room temperature is about 33.3°C. I’m running a Ryzen 9 3900X, paired with the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 inside an Aorus C300G case. The radiator is positioned frontward and the setup includes three 120mm exhaust fans—one at the rear and two on top. Performance boost is enabled, CPU core voltage is set to normal, and dynamic VCore (DVID) is at -0.126v with auto overdrive. An XMP profile has been applied. To lower temps further would be helpful. [UPDATE] It turns out idle temperatures are acceptable, but I’m currently testing load conditions in the discussion thread. PCPartPicker list: CPU, motherboard, cooling gear, memory, storage, and peripherals all included.

It seems everything is working well. The only readings that are important are the load temperatures.

It's typical for Ryzen to run warmer during idle periods, particularly in hot environments. Focus mainly on load temperatures when troubleshooting.

The 55°C idle temperature isn't that bad. It's what you'd normally see. My 3700X performed similarly with an NH-D15. At around 33°C outside, you won't get much better. For context, my 3700X now stays about 45°C when cooled with five 120mm fans/rads and a 21°C room temperature. TL;DR: You're fine.

Hey! With the warm surroundings, I shouldn't be too concerned about high idle temperatures. As the room gets hotter, your parts heat up more, and your CPU stays around 20°C above the ambient—great. If you moved your rig to a cooler space at 10°C, the CPU would sit at about 30°C during idle, which is really nice. Make sure your radiator sits above the pump or has tubes facing down if it's in front, so no air pockets get trapped and hurt performance.

If you moved your rig to a cooler space at 10°C, the CPU would sit at about 30°C during idle, which is really nice. Make sure your radiator sits above the pump or has tubes facing down if it's in front, so no air pockets get trapped and hurt performance.

Thanks for the confirmation. I switched the CPU core voltage to auto, which brings the max Vcore to 4.88. Now it idles around 55-58°C, and under heavy load it spikes to about 94°C, likely causing thermal throttling.

Confirm your radiator is positioned above the pump, or if it’s in front, align the tubes downward. This prevents air pockets from getting trapped in the pump, boosting efficiency. Checked the gamersnexus video and successfully applied the setup in my enclosure.

We should begin investigating potential issues here. AIOs need time to reach peak temperature, rather than instantly hitting Tmax. The likely culprits are insufficient thermal paste and inadequate mounting pressure. Try reseating and repasting the block to observe if the temperature improves. If it doesn’t, please inform us.

Reinforce the block using a cross method, securing each section individually. Continue until it resists further tightening, then add an additional quarter turn.
