High CPU temperature warning for Core i5 6600K at 100°C. Thermal throttling may occur under full load.
Hello everyone, thank you for your support. I’ve identified the problem with temperatures hitting 100°C. First, the AIO’s orientation and placement were incorrect—mounted in a way that disrupted airflow. The radiator was installed vertically with pipes at the bottom, creating a blockage. This likely caused the overheating. After removing the radiator and fan, temperatures dropped to around 40–50°C. During stress tests, it reached 100°C briefly but then throttled within minutes. I suspect connectivity or thermal paste issues between the AIO and CPU. I also found old thermal paste left in the case box. The plastic sticker on the AIO block was still there, which likely prevented proper paste application. Removing it with isopropyl alcohol took time, but once done, temperatures stabilized at 30–31°C. Now, with the original thermal paste and a clean block, performance improved to 50–51°C during testing. Regarding your question: it’s not unusual for high CPU usage during stress tests to push temperatures close to or above safe limits, especially if cooling is insufficient. Monitoring usage during such tests helps identify if it’s normal or a sign of deeper issues.
