High CPU temperature during startup 60-92°C at boot, then drops to 99-100°C during idle
Hey tech enthusiasts, back here with more tips and support. My one-year-old PC had a serious problem today—when I power it on, only the fans spin and the RGB lights flash for three seconds before shutting off. I ran some tests and discovered the RAM slot might be the culprit. Placing a RAM stick in slot 1B works fine, but the CPU temperature in BIOS stays between 62-90°C. When I booted Windows, the fans went full speed. I checked the idle temp and saw it spiked to over 99°C—only when RAM was installed on slot 1B did things stabilize. In slot 1A, the PC didn’t boot at all, but the CPU stayed cool (thanks to fast fans). Placing a second stick in slot 1A also failed to start, though it didn’t heat up much. I tried disabling XMP profiles, adjusting settings, resetting CMOS, checking CPU pins, and even uploaded a video. Specs are: Intel i3 9k, MSI Nvidia GTX 1060, two 8GB Kingstone Hyper X Fury, and an MSI motherboard.
Air cooler foxconn Intel it doesn’t come with fancy features, but I’m puzzled why my CPU temperature jumps to 92 when it boots. It wasn’t even running anything in BIOS anymore—it used to be between 32 and 45 now it’s 60 to 95. I tried cleaning and added more thermal paste, but I’m not sure it’ll help since it’s now 99+ at startup.
Many substances remain unchanged for years, but coolers are different due to dust. Two years isn't much.
