Hey, I'm facing an issue with RDR2 where the CPU usage hits 100% and the temperature goes over 70°C. It seems to be unique to this game compared to others like EFT, DBD, or R6. My system specs are an i7-9700K, Gigabyte RX 2080, and 16GB RAM.

It doesn't matter if the game uses all of your CPU. Your temps are okay too, as long as you're not seeing lower than expected frames—there should be no issues.

dlss achieves over 120 fps, and after playing the game for 300 hours I've never encountered such performance before.

DLSS might have eliminated a GPU limitation on the CPU. I experimented with RDR2 using DLSS last night but didn’t focus much on CPU usage. This isn’t confirmed, but it’s a potential factor. It’s simple to test—switch DLSS off and observe any differences. Also, try running with earlier settings and compare results. You might also check the internal render resolution when DLSS is disabled to see if behavior changes.

What I mentioned remains valid—give it a try, and you might want to test it further with MSI Afterburner to observe the game's performance through the OSD.

Have you attempted disabling DLSS? There’s a feature to enable a view per core, which could clarify what’s occurring. Additionally, 70°C shouldn’t damage your CPU, and the screenshot suggests usage isn’t consistently at 100%.

On a per-core level, performance seems typical with some variation. You might want to cap maximum FPS according to your monitor's refresh rate using the NVIDIA control panel; otherwise, your setup is working harder than necessary. It looks like the system is having trouble maintaining the same frame rate in St Denis, which makes sense since it’s being pushed more than needed in real-world conditions.

Enable VSync and set refresh rate to 144Hz.
