Hi, I just purchased the Corsair m65 ultra wired for CS:GO and am struggling to achieve a stable polling rate above 1000Hz without stutter or sudden FPS drops during quick movements. I understand that pushing beyond 1000Hz is often unnecessary and may not be noticeable to others, but as someone who competes in CS:GO and enjoys maximizing performance, I really want this capability. I’ll share all my details below—any advice would be greatly appreciated!

MOBO: ASUS B550e gaming RAM: Crucial Ballistix RGB white 8GB x 2 × 4
Clock Speed: 3600MHz
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2060 (model not specified, cooler performance was poor and it sounds like a motorbike when running)

- FPS Target: 1000Hz

This is a widely known issue (a quick google shows this) and frankly, one that I can't personally understand why people put themselves through. Its incredibly avoidable, simply my setting your mouse to 1000Hz. Problem solved and you have the same experience.
Recent motherboard BIOS updates? Tested linking to another USB port using a different controller? Reviewed CPU activity while moving the mouse in Windows with various polling configurations.
Running at 1000hz yet testing to see if the feature functions. It seems almost identical, though it would be cool to see it work properly xD
Yep, latest bios, the mouse doesnt work at all on my case usb ports no matter the polling rate, it just disconnects every 30 secs. Plugged it into the back of the mobo and it works fine at 1000hz. As for cpu usage it's almost impossible to tell if it goes up xD, sat around 20-25% when running a game + disc and a few other things and the mouse at any polling rate so nothing I wouldn't expect.
The back USB ports aren't all managed by the same controller. Various controllers respond differently to different workloads. The CPU utilization is easy to spot, especially during idle time on a 5900X. I own this model, and raising the polling frequency adds more strain.
1000 Hz indicates the mouse detects movement in about 1 ms. 8000 Hz suggests a response within 0.125 ms, which implies your game must handle controller input 8000 times per second instead of 1000. This also introduces higher latency elsewhere in the system, making the difference less noticeable. Your monitor at 144 Hz refreshes every ~6.9 ms, so you won’t perceive the rapid mouse movement between those intervals. The CPU is still managing basic tasks like moving a mouse pointer, but it likely ignores or handles interrupts efficiently unless the game runs at 8000 fps.
