I just upgraded Windows 10 to version v2004. However, whenever I attempt to shut down (with fast startup turned on) or hibernate, the screen becomes blank and displays the lock screen. I don’t want to turn off fast startup completely or force shutdown every time, nor do I wish to reinstall or refresh the OS. I suspect the problem is similar to what you experienced before, especially since there was no warning with event ID 45. In the Event Viewer, after the shutdown command starts, an error message appears: a corrected hardware issue occurred. Details: Component – PCI Express Root Port Error, Source – Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express), Primary Bus – Device – Function – 0x0:0x1C:0x5, Secondary Bus – Device – Function – 0x0:0x0:0x0. The affected device is identified as a Qualcomm wireless driver. I attempted to update and uninstall it, but the problem persisted. Another clue points to the driver being the likely culprit, as I can hibernate or shut down with fast startup in safe mode without issues. All my drivers are current and functioning properly. I’ve used the Windows Troubleshooter, performed a startup repair, and changed the boot order, yet nothing resolved it.

Method 3: Consider reviewing the steps below to see if they assist. 1. Press Windows + X, choose Device Manager. 2. Choose Network adapters, expand, and pick the Wireless adapter. 3. Double-click it and go to Power management in the window. 4. Disable the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device." 5. Click OK and restart to test. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...622ff2a223

You can also access the utility via https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...etect.html, though it’s not ideal.

The issue likely lies with the chipset. To confirm if it's a wireless device, remove the wireless card and check if the problem resolves. Safe mode doesn't install all drivers.
